Hi there!

I’m Katie, and these are my rambles.

I am public land enthusiast and painter from Colorado. My own outdoor adventures provide the reference material for my gouache and watercolor landscapes. Interested in both creating art and its context in our past and present, I earned a Bachelor’s of Art in Studio Art from Fort Lewis College and a Master’s Degree in Art History from the University of Colorado Boulder. I have been incredibly privileged to live in beautiful places in the American West, with access to endless outdoor recreation opportunities and vast wilderness areas. After many years in Colorado, I recently moved to the Columbia River Gorge and I am finding inspiration in every direction in my new home.

When not at my day job in wildland fire, you can find me and my best boy deep in the woods or high up in the Cascades, collecting ideas for my next painting.

“So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space.”
